About Miley

Stephanie Miley 38, the youngest of five siblings, was born in Detroit, Michigan and is a graduate of Redford High School in Detroit. Currently she is pursuing a BA in Business Administration and a minor in Public Policy from Central Michigan University.

Stephanie is the loving wife to Marcus Johnson of eight years.  Though they share no children, she is a loving guardian to her nephew whom she took over guardianship after the passing of her mother.

Miley has been active in the Detroit community for years.  As a member of Perfecting Church for 15 years, Miley faithfully serves on the "Helping Hands Ministry" also known as Dorcas Society were she participates with Genesis House a transitional home for displaced women and children.  Her other affiliations include:  NAACP, UNCF, Michigan Democratic Party, Center for Progressive Leadership, The White House Project, Coalition of Labor Union Women, Union Steward for AT&T CWA Local 4100 and Board Member of Center for Community-Driven Policymaking, and a long time volunteer and giver of United Way.  Miley is deeply committed to protecting and improving the quality of life and economic opportunities for Detroit's families.

Miley discovered her entrepreneur skills early on in life. By the time she was 21, she started New Horizon Janitorial Services, which she owned and operated for two years.  She soon discovered that her vision for Detroit was to be a place where people would want to live and raise families by providing the quality of life each deserved.  With only $2500 in her bank account she invested in her first piece of real estate on Detroit east side. Real estate allowed Ms. Miley the opportunity to buy blighted properties which once were eye sores, and refurbish them, and then sell them to first time homebuyers.  Through this process, Miley proved the importance of homeownership as being a key element in stabilizing neighborhoods and a major tool used to create wealth and entrepreneurship opportunities within her community. Miley felt that her obligation was not to just rebuild her community but to empower individuals by becoming more financially astute about their finances.  She would educate the potential home buyer about the home buying process, credit repair, money management and the responsibility of being a homeowner. Through Miley’s experience she soon realized that her passion was not just in homes but in numbers as well.  Having a strong fervor for money, Miley started working in the banking industry.  Over 12 years Miley taught and educated individuals about saving, investing and making their money work for them.  She believes that if she empowered individuals to take control of their financial situation they would soon see that money works for you.  Miley’s zeal and desire to continue to rebuild and stabilize her community, she worked as an Account Executive were she provided hundreds of individuals the opportunity to live out their life long dream of becoming homeowners.  Miley generated over 81 million dollars over a two and half year period to contribute to the stabilization of Detroit neighborhoods.

When asked why she wanted to get involved in politics she replied by saying my overall desire is to help and serve people and to see Detroit the city of opportunity and hope.  Miley believes you must have a spirit to serve the citizens and not yourself. She believes that Detroit has not seen its best days and that we must elect individuals that have a vision and plan for this city. Miley believes that as a public official it is your obligation to make the right decision for the constituents that elected you.

Miley is on a Mission!! Committed to the people; dedicated to the progress.  Vote Miley August 3rd!
